Join guest facilitator Carolyn Barnwell for a somatic release workshop on March 14th at 5:30pm. Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE®) is a body-based method for releasing stress and tension held in our muscles and connective tissue. TRE positions your body to release tension through its natural urge to shake or vibrate. It's simple, yet powerful, because you get to let your body lead instead of your mind.

TRE is also an empowering practice. Trauma can be released no matter where it came from because trauma is not an event. It’s the energy that’s released into the body, but not expressed - resulting in physical tension. It’s when something is too much for your system and the survival energy that’s been activated gets stuck.

This technique has multiple positive effects on the body, including:
- relieving stress and lowering anxiety
- calming and balancing the nervous system
- bringing the body back into a state of balance
- more energy and stamina/endurance
- improved sleep and natural states of rest
- reduced muscle aches and pains, including relief from migraines, headache, back pain
- better circulation, waking up areas of the body which may be numb or blocked
- calming heart rate and breathing
- increased flexibility

This workshop is capped at 10 people to allow for an intimate, personalized experience.

What to expect:
Bring your mat or a blanket, and wear comfortable clothes that may get a little sweaty. You'll be stretching and fatiguing your leg muscles while upright for up to 30 minutes. During the practice, you can set your own pace. The shaking will be done lying on a mat and then we'll end with deep relaxation and reflection. No experience is necessary! Come experience a new way of being in your body.

Please note: TRE® is safe and effective for most people, and will leave you feeling rebalanced and calm. However, it is contraindicated to utilize TRE® if you are currently pregnant, have epilepsy, seizures, schizophrenia, or recent surgeries/injuries.
